Gift giving does not have to be a chore, or a huge expense. Enjoying gift giving is as much a part of the gift, as buying the gift itself. By giving yourself time to shop, and putting more thought into the gift, who you are buying it for, and the reason why, chances are you will wind up with the perfect gift for the occasion.
Most of us know, money is tight these days. So why not dig a little deeper, and put some real value into your gift. For instance, for an aunt or grandma on your list who has everything, give the most precious gift, your time. Offer to spend the day baking cookies, sharing memories, or just catching up. Give that hard-to-buy-for uncle on your list a driveway shoveling and gutter cleaning. Sometimes simpler is sweeter. And think of how wonderful it would be just spending time with someone who you may not have been spending enough time with before. You may just be surprised to learn that your special gift of yourself turns out to be the best and most thoughtful gift they have ever had. And how great is that!
Sometimes buying what you
think a person needs, or wants, or what will impress them, you can end up buying the wrong gift entirely, and for all the wrong reasons.
